Burning Cedar Sovereign Wellness + Oklahoma Today Magazine

A few years ago, I had the incredible honor of photographing the women of Burning Cedar for Oklahoma Today Magazine. Recently, I learned that this portrait series was awarded the Gold Award from IRMA Magazine. Working with Burning Cedar Sovereign Wellness was a deeply meaningful project. This 100% Indigenous women-led, community-driven nonprofit is dedicated to promoting healthy traditional foodways and Indigenous wellness practices for Native families and individuals living in the urban Tulsa area. It was inspiring to capture the strength and spirit of these women who are making a real impact in their community. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to work on stories like this with Oklahoma Today Magazine, and it's projects like these that remind me how powerful photography can be in sharing important stories.
